Tire Safety Begins with Inspection

Proper tire maintenance is an important safety feature that is neglected all too often. If your tires are bad, it doesn’t really matter how good your driver-assist systems are. Many of us drive around on tires that are too worn, putting you and your passengers in danger.

Did you know that under inflation is the leading cause of tire failure? That’s not all, under inflated tires can lead to higher fuel costs by as much as 3 to 5¢ per gallon. Check your tires pressure once a month using a gauge. Outside temperatures can affect your tires inflation, so when the temperature changes be sure your tire is still properly inflate.

Ideally, tire inspections should be performed every month. More frequent tire inspections are required when driving over potholes, live in a cold climate, or regularly drive long distances.
